Sinem Altan stammt aus Ankara und lebt in Berlin. Für die in 1985 geborene deutsch-türkische Komponistin ist der Dialog zwischen diesen beiden Kulturen der zentrale Impuls ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit. Sinem Altan comes from Ankara and lives in Berlin. For the German-Turkish composer, who was born in 1985, the dialogue between these two cultures is the central impulse of her artistic work.
Sinem Altan kreiert und verkörpert einen neuen, jungen Typus einer Komponistengeneration, die stärker aus der Musikpraxis heraus arbeitet und über das Komponieren hinaus unterschiedliche Rollen innerhalb des Musikbetriebs einnimmt. Der Dialog zwischen europäischer und orientalischer Kultur sowie genre- und generationsübergreifende Projekte bilden den Mittelpunkt ihrer schöpferischen Arbeit. Sinem Altan creates and embodies a new, young type of a generation of composers who work more out of musical practice and who, beyond composing, take on different roles within the music business. The dialogue between European and Oriental culture as well as genre- and generation-spanning projects form the centre of her creative work.
Aktuell ist Sinem Altan Musikalische Leiterin im Maxim Gorki Theater und im Atze Musiktheater in Berlin. Currently Sinem Altan is musical director of the Maxim Gorki Theater and the Atze Musiktheater in Berlin.
