Oliver Strauch studierte Jazzschlagzeug in Frankfurt a.M. 1990 Förderpreis der Stadt Saarbrücken. 1996 Förderstipendium des Deutsch-Französischer Kulturrats in Paris. 2005 wurde er in den „Drummer’s Directory-The World Greatest Drummers“ aufgenommen. Er hat bei über 40 CD-Produktionen als Leader und Sideman mitgewirkt, u.a. mit Lee Konitz, Martial Solal, Randy Brecker und Roy Hargrove. / Oliver Strauch studied jazz -drums in Frankfurt a.M. 1990 Promotion Prize of the City of Saarbrücken. 1996 Scholarship of the German-French Cultural Council in Paris. In 2005 he was included in the „Drummer’s Directory-The World Greatest Drummers“. Heute bewegt er sich im Grenzbereich von Kunst und Musik und initiierte und formierte zusammen mit Claas Willeke und Florian Penner die mediale Künstlergruppe DIE REDNER. / Today he moves in the border area between art and music and initiated and formed together with Claas Willeke and Florian Penner the artist group DIE REDNER.
Seit 2009 ist er Professor für Jazzschlagzeug an der Hochschule für Musik Saar. Oliver Strauch arbeitete für Film, Fernsehen und Theater u.a. mit Konstantin Wecker und Dieter Hildebrandt – Tourneen führten ihn u.a. nach Vietnam, Senegal, USA, Russland, Kanada und Brasilien. „Walk Tall“ wurde 2009 auf Blue Note Records veröffentlicht. 2010 entstand in New York sein fünftes Album als Leader mit Kenny Werner ( New York Album ). Oliver Strauch wurde 2011 mit dem europäischen Jazzpreis, JTI-Jazz Award ausgezeichnet. / Since 2009 he is professor for jazz percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Saar. Er übernahm die künstlerische Leitung des Völklinger Hüttenjazz im Weltkulturerbe und ist ist seit 2015 Mitglied des Exportbüros des Landes Baden-Württemberg. / He took over the artistic direction of the Völklinger Hüttenjazz in World Cultural Heritage and has been a member of the export office of the state of Baden-Württemberg since 2015.
